Italy ➜ Tuscany

Tuscany is the crown jewel of culinary cultural and adventure tourism in Italy. It has often been sung about and immortalised in many films. With its Mediterranean climate, its unique vegetation and its art treasures, it has become the epitome of the South of longing for millions. This is where the Renaissance started. And here, between the Apennines and the Tyrrhenian Sea, there is a diverse, enchanting nature; embedded in it are stylish buildings in abundance, surrounded by Tuscan cypresses like exclamation marks. This Tuscan appearance is particularly famous for combining natural beauty with the testimonies of history. Relics of the Etruscans and Romans, medieval villages and abbeys are scattered throughout the area. From the Leaning Tower in Pisa, the Uffizi Gallery in Florence to the old town of Siena: the number of cultural monuments is overwhelming. In between, modern spas entice you to bathe. In addition, there is a culinary high culture: Tuscany is the cradle of such popular specialities as Cantucci, Pecorino, Ribollita (vegetable soup) or Bistecca fiorentina.

Three of the most famous Tuscan wines: Masseto, the Merlot icon from Bolgheri, Saffredi, a French cuvée from the Maremma, and Tignanello, Chianti pioneer from the heart of Tuscany.

Florence: with its churches, palaces and bridges, the epitome of the Renaissance, city of the Medici, site of influential art collections, it is crossed by the mythical river Arno. To the north, the hills of the Apennines stand out; to the south, the hills of Chianti border the city. The historical figures associated with Florence form a Who's Who of Western culture: Leonardo da Vinci, Michelangelo, Macchiavelli, Galileo Galilei...
