Circolo Golf Venezia

Legend has it that the origin of this golf course is linked to a visit by Henry Ford: The president of the automobile company of the same name arrived at the Hotel Excelsior in 1928 with his bag and clubs and asked Count Giuseppe Volpi di Misurata if he could try his hand at the nearest golf course.

This sport was still virtually unknown in Italy and unfortunately there was no golf course in Venice at the time. Unfortunately, the Count had to admit this to his guest and promised himself that he would never again expose himself to such embarrassment in his life.

The Venezia golf course was built in 1928 and extended to 18 holes in 1951. It is located on a spectacular strip of land between the Adriatic Sea and the Venice lagoon. With its 18 holes stretching over a length of 6039 meters, the Bora and Scirocco winds that often occur on this course increase the challenge and require game control to hit the greens well protected by bunkers.
